What are we about?
Our Distinctives
All churches have distinctives, and ours is no exception. We believe certain things are true, and not other things. We organize our worship services in a particular way, and not in another way, and so on. Here are some of the highlights of what we value in a church family. See our Philosophy of Ministry for more.
We are committed to Christ-centered preaching (Jn 5:39) that is characterized by faithful exposition of the text (Lk 24:27) and by pastoral exhortation to the local church body (2 Tim 4:2).
We desire for Baptism and Communion to take part in our corporate assemblies on a regular basis (1 Cor 11:25).
We believe elder-led church polity with pastors who live among their people matters for the overall quality of discipleship in the church (1 Pt 5:2-3, Acts 20:18).
We understand the heart of the Great Commission as a call to invest into God’s people over programs (Mat 28:19).
We strive for a sending culture that involves raising men to plant churches and to take the gospel to other nations (Tit 1:5, Lk 19:10).
We desire for everything we do to be characterized by our deep love for one another and for all (1 Th 3:12).
We believe it is important to partner with other churches in conferences, evangelistic works, missions, pastoral fellowship/consultation, and training of leaders. (1 Cor 1:2)
To show our deep unity with historical Christianity, we affirm the Nicene Creed along with the revised New Hampshire Confession of Faith from 1853 and a few additional articles on the creation of mankind and sanctity of life. We will also use 1689 London Baptist Confession (2LBC) as an examination tool for church officers and other leaders. See our Statement of Faith for more.
